County Road 22 & Manning Road Interchange
What is the County Road 22 and Manning Road interchange project?
It is a proposed grade-separated interchange — an overpass — that would let County Road 22 traffic flow over the Manning Road crossing instead of stopping at a light. The total project has been estimated at roughly $105 million, with Essex County requesting about $60 million from the Province.
Why does this intersection matter so much?
At about 42,000 vehicles a day it is the most congested intersection in Essex County. Backups affect commuters, farmers moving equipment, and emergency vehicles — and regional job growth, including the NextStar EV battery plant in Windsor, is expected to add even more traffic.
Where does the funding stand in 2026?
Essex County has renewed its push for the provincial share, but a firm funding commitment had not been secured as of 2026. Until senior-government dollars are confirmed, construction cannot begin.
Sam will make the interchange a priority — aggressively pursuing the provincial funding and giving residents a straight, public status update instead of silence. A full-time mayor treats County Road 22 as the regional safety issue it is.
