Sam Sinjari and the Gignac Park Tree Planting
In October 2019, more than 30 volunteers planted 50 large native hardwood trees at Gignac Park in Windsor. Windsorite reported that the trees were funded by local entrepreneur Sam Sinjari.
What happened at Gignac Park?
Volunteers planted 50 large trees selected for the park's wet, heavy-clay soil. The planting included species such as Burr Oak, Swamp White Oak, Sycamore, and Swamp Maple.
Who participated?
Windsorite reported participation from University of Windsor Odette School of Business students, PricewaterhouseCoopers staff, Windsor Police Service members, and community volunteers.
How is this independently corroborated?
The planting is documented by Windsorite, and current institutional biographies for Sam at the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario and Hydrocephalus Canada both specifically cite the 50-tree Gignac Park project as part of his philanthropic record.
