Sam Sinjari's 700+ Work Shoe Donation
In September 2025, Sam Sinjari donated more than 700 pairs of brand-new, slip-resistant work shoes to UHC — Hub of Opportunities, the Downtown Mission, and other local organizations to help people begin jobs without having to absorb the upfront cost of required footwear.
What was donated?
AM800 CKLW reported that the donation included more than 700 pairs of new service-industry work shoes in men's and women's sizes 6 through 13. The shoes were intended for people entering jobs in hospitality, retail, healthcare, food service, and related fields.
Who received the shoes?
The primary recipient was UHC — Hub of Opportunities, with additional shoes directed to the Downtown Mission and other local organizations serving residents facing barriers to employment.
Why did it matter?
For someone who has secured a job but lacks required footwear, the cost of a new pair can become an immediate barrier to starting work. This donation addressed that practical problem directly.
