Sam Sinjari Calls for Greater Transparency on the Green Bin Program

As Lakeshore residents receive property tax bills that include a Green Bin Program user fee, residents Sam Sinjari has spoken with are asking questions about affordability, participation, how the program is governed, and whether an option to opt out exists.

“Residents have every right to ask questions when a new fee appears on their property tax bill. People deserve clear information about how the program works, how decisions are made, what the program is achieving, and how those decisions affect them.”

Sinjari believes residents should receive regular public updates on program participation, waste-diversion results, program costs, and any measurable impacts on waste collection, processing, and landfill use.

“Residents have also asked how decisions made at the County level relate to the charges appearing on their local property tax bills. Clear and easy-to-understand information would help residents understand which level of local government is responsible for different services and where to direct their questions.”
“This is not about revisiting past decisions. It is about helping residents understand how the program is performing, what they are paying for, and whether it is meeting its intended objectives.”

If elected Mayor, Sinjari says he will support clear public communication and regular reporting on significant local and regional programs that affect Lakeshore residents.

“Transparency and accountability help build public trust. Residents deserve clear information, respectful dialogue, and responsible stewardship of every tax dollar.”
